The Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC) recently adjusted its GDP growth projection for 2025 slightly downward to 3.1%, a minor decrease from the previous estimate of 3.2% made in March. Despite the slight revision, Cyprus's economic outlook remains robust, driven primarily by strong domestic demand and ongoing infrastructure and investment projects.

Economic Stability and Growth

The revised forecast underscores the resilience of the Cypriot economy. Domestic demand, particularly private consumption, continues to be a significant growth driver. This demand is fueled by increased disposable incomes, strong employment trends, and substantial investments in non-residential private infrastructure aimed at digital and green development.

Notably, unemployment rates are expected to decline to 4.7% in 2025 from 4.9% in 2024, signaling near full-employment conditions and further supporting economic stability.

Inflation Trends

Inflation estimates for 2025 have also been significantly reduced, now expected at 1.5% compared to the earlier prediction of 2.1%. The decrease in inflation is attributed mainly to lower energy prices, effective government measures on electricity costs, and moderated wage growth.
